Casa de Faira
Rik, myself & a friend of ours on leave from the USAF, will be making the trek to Casa de Faira on October 9....a week from tomorrow.
Anyone going who wants to hook up? Gimme a ring. Hopefully my phone'll work better in Gilroy/Hollister than it did up at Lake Stafford Park.

Knowing it was going to happen doesn't make me less PISSED
Schwarzenegger Vetoes Gay Marriage Bill
Source: kcbs
Publication date: 2005-09-29
(KCBS/AP) - Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger has vetoed a landmark bill legalizing same-sex marriage in California.
"This bill simply adds confusion to a constitutional issue," the Republican governor said in a veto message. "If the ban of same-sex marriage is unconstitutional this bill is not necessary. If the ban is constitutional this bill is ineffective."
Schwarzenegger had promised to veto the bill, saying the issue should be decided by voters or the courts.
Earlier this month, the legislature became the first lawmaking body in the nation to legalize gay marriage without a court order when it passed AB849 by a razor-thin majority.
The law would have nullified a Prop. 22, a 2000 referendum which defined legal marriage as an institution between one man and one woman.
In March, San Francisco Superior Court Judge Richard Kramer issued a decision to overturn that law. The attorney general is now asking an appeals court to reinstate the law because California already has granted most of the rights and duties of marriage to same-sex couples registered with the state as domestic partners.
AB849's author, San Francisco Assemblyman Mark Leno, said Prop. 22 contradicts Article I of California's constitution.
"[It] very simply states that a citizen or class of citizens may not be granted privileges not granted on the same terms to all citizens," Leno told KCBs. "That is the foundation stone of our democracy and he cares to ignore it."
Leno called on the governor to join him in sponsoring another gay marriage bill during the next legislative session that would go before voters on a referendum ballot.
"The governor wants to duck and say we don't have a representative democracy in California. We have to go to the voters or the court. Of course, when we go to the courts and win the opposition says we have activist judges," said Leno.
The governor refused to meet with Leno and a lesbian family in the days prior to the veto.
"I in my heart believe that if we were to join hands, Republicans and Democrats together," said Leno, "then we could pass this at the ballot."
The governor's office refused two calls from KCBS seeking comment on Thursday afternoon.

My Folsom Plans
Saturday morning - Go to Fairfield & drop my car off for the FINAL touches. I'm getting a protective coating put on (for free) that's supposed to help minimize damage from weather, dirt, birds & the like.
Saturday 2pm-7pm - Women's Party at the Citadel. Unless something changes w/ the Bay Bridge closures, Vicki & I will be BARTing for this.
After the party, it's BACK to Fairfield to get my car.
Sunday - FOLSOM FOLSOM FOLSOM!! Again, Vicki & I are BARTing in. Unless we both get too worn out, we're going from open to close.
Want to see me? Let me know and/or call my cell. :)

Following Along
Look at your LJ "interests" list. If you have less than 50 interests, pick every fifth one. If you have between fifty and seventy-five interests, pick every seventh one. If you have over seventy-five interests, pick every tenth one. If you have fewer than ten, pick all of 'em. List them on your LJ, and tell everyone exactly what it is about these things that interests you so much.
I wasn't sure whether your 1st interest listed should be where you start picking...
80's music - It's the musting I was a teen-ager with, and still prefer to listen to today. My main interest is in the heavy metal, glam-rock, big hair bands of the mid to late 80's.
bagpipes - What can I say, I like music that sounds like you're stomping on cat's tails. :)
celtic mythology - My ancestry is Irish/Celtic, and I've always liked reading the mythology. Not so much diety focused, as hero focused. It's also where I first started learning about fairies and other wee folk.
ecw - Hardcore pro-wrestling at it's best.
flirting - It's fun to do. It makes me feel more attractive & likeable when people respond in kind.
honesty - Cornerstone of my world. I try to be as honest as possible to myself, and in my dealings with others. I expect the same of the people that I call friend or lover.
latex - Makes for great fetish clothing. I don't have nearly enough of it.
modern rock - More great music, especially the late 80's through the 90's.
pain play - It's how I like my BDSM scenes. I like to inflict intense sensation on people (women mostly) who enjoy receiving said sensations.
sadism - See above. I identify as sadist much more than I do as dominant.
transgender studies - Something that I've always been interested in. I've always wanted to understand more about T-people and the realities of their lives.
wicca - I'm a practicing witch....but not necessarily a wiccan one. It's just 1 of the many catch-alls I use to describe myself.
Or if you started with your 10th interest 1st.
bagpipes - What can I say, I like music that sounds like you're stomping on cat's tails. :)
chocolate - I am firmly convinced that if I have a long stay in ICU, my IV will be Hershey's syrup.
erotic fiction - What's not to like about well-written sex stories?
friends - Everyone needs them.
horror novels - I wouldn't say that I like to be scared, but I do like the pychological terror in some books, as well as the well-written graphic scenes.
lesbianism - Well....I've always said that if I were single I would be a lesbian.....
mythology - I started reading Greek mythology when I was 10-12. It was how I first learned that there were other religious options out there besides God/Christ based western religions.
psychology - It's what I got my BA in. I like knowing what makes people tick.
submissive women - They are who I prefer to have romantic and/or BDSM based relationships with. I adore women who adore pain, and who can follow directives. However, I do also prefer the ones who are strong & independent & don't need me to be in control, they just want me to be.
vampires - Sexy, gothic, blood-sucking freaks. :)
wwf - The start of my 20+ year obsession with pro-wrestling.

Tell me lies, tell me sweet little lies
Answer, don't answer....doesn't matter. I just wanted to put pen to paper & get this out of my head.
1. If there was a rumor going around about you....
a. Would you want to know?
b. Would you want to know what was being said?
c. Would you want to know who started it?
d. Would you want to know why they started it?
2. If you heard a rumor about a friend....would you let your friend know about it?
a. Say the rumor was about someone you knew, but weren't necessarily friends with, would you tell them?
b. Say the rumor was about someone you knew & didn't really like, would you tell them?
3. If you chose to give any information, what would you tell them?
a. Just that I 'heard something bad', but you'd refuse to give them any details.
b. You'd tell them exactly what you heard, but not from who.
c. You'd tell them everything that you knew.
(man I sound like I'm in junior high)

Things I've Learned
As I've Matured...
I've learned that you cannot make someone love you. All you can do is stalk them and hope they panic and give in.
I've learned that one good turn gets most of the blankets.
I've learned that no matter how much I care, some people are just jackasses.
I've learned that it takes years to build up trust, and it only takes suspicion, not proof, to destroy it.
I've learned that whatever hits the fan will not be evenly distributed.
I've learned that you shouldn't compare yourself to others - they are more screwed up than you think.
I've learned that depression is merely anger without enthusiasm.
I've learned that it is not what you wear; it is how you take it off.
I've learned that you can keep vomiting long after you think you're finished.
I've learned to not sweat the petty things, and not pet the sweaty things.
I've learned that ex's are like fungus, and keep coming back.
I've learned age is a very high price to pay for maturity.
I've learned that I don't suffer from insanity, I enjoy it.
I've learned that we are responsible for what we do, unless we are celebrities.
I've learned that artificial intelligence is no match for natural stupidity.
I've learned that 99% of the time when something isn't working in your house, one of your kids did it.
I've learned that there is a fine line between genius and insanity.
I've learned that the people you care most about in life are taken from you too soon, all the less important ones just never go away, and the real pains in the ass are permanent.

When work gets in the way of life....
In case anyone cares...
I might not be at the monthly 2nd Saturday party this month.
My company is having a picnic on the same day. Back in May, when the picnic was 1st announced, the 2 main planners were asking for a volunteer from each department to be a part of the Planning Committee.
So....since I am the only non-exempt employee in Admin/HR....guess who gets 'volunteered' to be on the committee?
Anyways....one of the requirements of being a 'volunteer' is that you must be at the picnic site in Martinez at 8:30 AM, to help set-up. So...since Martinez is about a hour drive from me....that means Rik & I (yes he gets dragged to Company Stuff to do the spousal thing) will be waking up around 6:30 on a fucking Saturday morning.
I probably won't be home until 4:30, at the earliest....so I honestly can't say whether or not I'll be up for another long drive & partying into the wee hours of the night. I'm just going to play it by ear. If you see me...well then, I guess I decided to go. :)

The realization of 'Kill them all & let God sort them out"
Perhaps they are hoping for a reprize of 40 days & 40 nights & Noah?
Repent America issued a press release Wednesday. In it, they implied that Hurricane Katrina was a judgement from God on New Orleans, particularly on Southern Decadence, New Orleans' annual queer end-of-summer bash.
Eh, they're just some tiny fringe group, right?
Well, Agape Press, the American Family Association's news service (and nobody can claim that the AFA isn't right in the heart of Christian activism) posted an article misleadingly titled New Orleans Residents: God's Mercy Evident in Katrina's Wake. They don't just imply.
The pastor explains that for years he has warned people that unless Christians in New Orleans took a strong stand against such things as local abortion clinics, the yearly Mardi Gras celebrations, and the annual event known as "Southern Decadence" -- an annual six-day "gay pride" event scheduled to be hosted by the city this week -- God's judgment would be felt.
“New Orleans now is abortion free. New Orleans now is Mardi Gras free. New Orleans now is free of Southern Decadence and the sodomites, the witchcraft workers, false religion -- it's free of all of those things now," Shanks says. "God simply, I believe, in His mercy purged all of that stuff out of there -- and now we're going to start over again."
Last I checked, this isn't what Christianity is about. I thought Christianity wasn't about exploiting human suffering.
Show me that it's not. Take a stand.
