Grr Ack & Arrgh

Another one bites the dust. A recruiter at Ajilon rang me up a few weeks ago about this great payroll position in San Ramon....a permanent (as opposed to temp-to-hire) position. So, I took a long lunch that day & registered with Ajilon. A few days later, I interviewed with San Ramon Company. The HR Director asked me back for a 2nd interview. She wanted me to come in for a few hours while they were processing payroll, so I could get a feel for the operation there. According to her & Ajilon, I was the 2nd person out of everyone they've seen to be asked back...and apparently the 1st one backed out because of the commute (which would be 1/2 of my current drive). According to Ajilon, they loved me & the job was practically mine. So, they finally set up the 2nd interview for last Wednesday...and then canceled it the afternoon before. Apparently they've been ass-deep in auditors, trying to become more Sarbanes-Oxley compliant. So...today...1 week after I should have had the 2nd interview & 3 weeks after the 1st interview...Ajilon calls me today & tells me that San Ramon company has pulled the position. Apparently the person who was leaving...isn't. Well, fuck me gently with a chainsaw.
