Interview #2.5 - Update
They're taking their sweet time about calling me in for the 2nd interview. I hadn't heard anything back since Thursday...so I called yesterday & according to the HR Director, she's still waiting to get a date settled with the 2 VP's that I'm supposed to interview with.
Patience is so not one of my stronger qualities. :)

Before I Sleep
Ok, the resume is re-vamped & sent off to the HR Director (who wasn't expecting me to send it until Monday).
In addition, I did a little research on the pay scale for Office Manager (as a generic position w/ SF as the locale)...the average pay scale is $46,440 - $88,120. So...in my current HR position, I am at the bottom end of that particular pay range. You do the math. :)
BYY & My Job Search
So, by now you've read the last post.
I have a small card @ work that lists my BYY Guidelines & Values...and it caught my eye after my conversation with the HR Director ... and I'm being amused by the connections.
Guidelines
Walk away sooner.
If it's right for you, fight for it.
Be open.
Values
Courage - The willingness to take calculated risks and step outside of one's comfort zone.
Growth - Investing in life-long learning, personal development, self education.
Independence - Free from the influence, guidance, or control of others.
Results of Interview #2

Order/maintain supplies for whole office

The HR Director asked me how I felt & whether I was interested. I told her that it was a direction that I hadn't considered, but that I would be an idiot to pass it up. I told her I was free to interview anytime next week. She's going to coordinate with the 2 Executives & let me know when I'll be going back for Interview 2.5.
So...deep breath...here I go to re-vamp my current resume (at their request) to make it more in line with this new opportunity.

Pretty Colors
My Personality
Neuroticism | 52 |
Extraversion | 74 |
Openness to Experience | 58 |
Agreeableness | 41 |
Conscientiousness | 89 |
You are poised, confident, and clear-thinking when stressed, however you feel enraged when things do not go your way. You are sensitive about being treated fairly and feel resentful and bitter if you think you are being cheated. You enjoy some excitment and risk taking in your life. You prefer facts over fantasy and are more interested in what is happening in the real word. You dislike confrontations and are perfectly willing to compromise or to deny your own needs in order to get along with others, however you are not affected strongly by human suffering, priding yourself on making objective judgments based on reason. You are more concerned with truth and impartial justice than with mercy. You have strong will-power and are able to overcome your reluctance to begin tasks. You are able to stay on track despite distractions. |

Interview #2
Different place than #1, same general area though...a few blocks from the Embarcadero BART, close to Mission.
To sum it up in 1 word - grueling.
I was interviewed by a recruiter, the Assistant Controller, the HR Director, the Controller and as a surprise (because he wasn't expected to come in), the CFO. All in all, I was there from 1-330.
It seems to be an amazing company. They are really people focused, their employees aren't just people who are there to do a job...they are human beings that the company cares about. The company also does a ton of volunteer/charity work. Every employee is giving 16 hours per year that they can use to work any of the many company sponsored events.
I have the skill-set they want (and more). I guess the biggest thing to determine is whether or not I'll be the best fit for the company as a whole.

Just Strange
An odd (and all too frequent occurrance) -
Someone with very little in their profile decides to drop me a note, expressing their interest in me.
I check them out & see that their profile is rather empty...so I reply to them & ask if they can tell me more about themself, their interests & what they are looking for.
Annnnd....nothing. Everytime I ask for more information, the person just disappears into thin air.
Seriously...do people really think that another person is going to get all hot & bothered over someone that doesn't even care enough to tell us a little about themself?
My profile may not be all that exciting, but at least I went through the trouble of making one & giving people a look into who I am, what I want & where I'm coming from.

A Love Song for Stalkers
Death Cab For Cutie - I Will Possess Your Heart
How I wish you could see the potential, the potential of you and me.
Its like a book elegantly bound but in a language that you can’t read, just yet.
You gotta spend some time, love.
You gotta spend some time with me,
and I know that you’ll find love,
I will possess your heart.
You gotta spend some time, love.
You gotta spend some time with me,
and I know that you’ll find love,
I will possess your heart.
There are days when outside your window, I see my reflection as I slowly pass
And I long for this mirrored perspective when we’ll be lovers, lovers at last.
You gotta spend some time, love. You gotta spend some time with me,
and I know that you’ll find love, I will possess your heart.
You gotta spend some time, love. You gotta spend some time with me,
and I know that you’ll find love, I will possess your heart.
You reject my advances and desperate plea. I won’t let you let me down so easily. So easily
You gotta spend some time, love. You gotta spend some time with me,
and I know that you’ll find love, I will possess your heart.
You gotta spend some time, love. You gotta spend some time with me,
and I know that you’ll find love, I will possess your heart.
I will possess your heart
I will possess your heart

Just what are you trying to say?
Ludo - Love Me Dead
Love me cancerously
Like a salt-sore soaked in the sea.
'High-maintenance' means
You're a gluttonous queen
Narcissistic and mean.
Kill me romantically
Fill my soul with vomit
Then ask me for a piece of gum.
Bitter and dumb
You're my sugarplum.
You're awful, I love you!
CHORUS
She moves through moonbeams slowly
She knows just how to hold me
And when her edges soften
Her body is my coffin
I know she drains me slowly
She wears me down to bones in bed
Must be the sign on my head
That says, oh...
Love me dead! Love me dead!
You're a faith-healer on T.V.
You're an office park without any trees
Corporate and cold
Gushing for gold
Leave me alone.
You suck so passionately
You're a parasitic, psycho, filthy creature
finger-bangin' my heart
You call me up drunk
Does the fun ever start?
You're hideous and sexy!
REPEAT CHORUS
Must be the sign on my head
That says, oh...
Love me dead! Love me dead!
SOLO
Love me cancerously
Brrrot-dot-da-d-da-da!
How's your new boy?
Does he know about me?
You've got the mark of the beast.
You're born of a jackal! You're beautiful!
REPEAT CHORUS
Wha' 'bout that sign on my head
That says, oh...
Love me dead!

1 Down
I had my 1st interview in over 6 years today.
I think it went well.
They seemed very interested in the fact that my biggest responsibilites are currently payroll and benefits. The company I interviewed at has 1 person doing each thing & they really want to have their staff cross-trained.
They also seemed to like the fact that I've been working for 2 years on a payroll system that they've recently upgraded to.
So...we'll see.

This isn't how I wanted to do it
As everyone knows, I've been (very selectively) job hunting.
Since 3/22, I've submitted 6 resumes for various payroll/hr positions. The cream of the crop (for me anyway) is Google...but so far they haven't acknowledged my existence.
I had a phone screen from a company very close to home last week, but haven't heard anything further from them.
Yesterday, I got a call from a resume I sent out on Sunday. The company is in the Financial Disctrict (a few blocks from Embarcadero Bart) and wants me to interview ASAP. I told them that I was processing payroll this week & that Tuesday-Wednesday were not a good time for me to take a few hours off. They suggested Thursday or Friday morning. I told them I'd check with my boss & call them back as soon as I had an answer.
So, after an unpleasant incident with the VP of Lending & the Supervisor of Lending...I finally had a second to talk to my boss.
I asked her if she'd have time for a meeting after I got back from lunch. She said she was too busy, had a meeting with a VP & a doctor appointment that she wasn't sure how long it would take.
SO, I said 'ok, well then I'll give you the short version, since I need an answer. I'm looking for a new job & a company wants me to interview either Thursday or Friday morning. When can you spare me? Oh and BTW, I'd like to talk to you about the VP & Sup. of Lending. I don't appreciate how they treated me earlier.'
She said Thursday was better for me to take off.
And that was the whole of the conversation.
Hopefully, she'll have time to talk to me today.
