The more I ponder, the more I agree
From my previous post - To be a Satanist, you don't actually have to believe in Satan. Satanism generally focuses upon the spiritual advancement of the self, rather than upon submission to a deity or a set of moral codes.
When people ask me about my views on religion....I often have a difficult time explaining myself. I do not believe in God. I do not believe that there is a single deity. I am willing to consider the idea that there is a pantheon of sort (similar maybe to the 12 Olympians)....but even that I will not concretely say I believe this.
I claim Pagan....as a catch all, but if I were to be totally honest....Satanism is a lot closer to what my belief pattern really is. I'm too self-centered & mean to be your typical nature loving, earth saving Wiccan-type....but not quite self-centered enough to follow all of what Anton La Vey preaches. I tend to have the white knight syndrome & think I can save the people I care about, if they'd just listen to me. :)
Anyways....refresher from a post I made in 2003. The bold stuff is what I most agree with.....Note, I said agree...but that doesn't mean I necessarily manifest those things in my life...although....maybe I should....I so need to work on #6.
The Nine Satanic Statements from The Satanic Bible, ©1969 by Anton Szandor LaVey
1. Satan represents indulgence instead of abstinence!
2. Satan represents vital existence instead of spiritual pipe dreams!
3. Satan represents undefiled wisdom instead of hypocritical self-deceit!
4. Satan represents kindness to those who deserve it instead of love wasted on ingrates!
5. Satan represents vengeance instead of turning the other cheek!
6. Satan represents responsibility to the responsible instead of concern for psychic vampires!
7. Satan represents man as just another animal, sometimes better, more often worse than those that walk on all-fours, who, because of his “divine spiritual and intellectual development,” has become the most vicious animal of all!
8. Satan represents all of the so-called sins, as they all lead to physical, mental, or emotional gratification!
9. Satan has been the best friend the Church has ever had, as He has kept it in business all these years!
